Roots Rock!

For this Tea with Lady B, I borrowed sentiments from an interview I watched recently with Tyler Perry. It captured my attention because it spoke to my own life—
People who come into your life fit like a tree, into three different compartments—leaves, limbs, and roots. As leaves, they are but for a moment just for temporary shade. But when the season changes and the winds begin to blow, sometimes too hard for them, they can’t handle the pressure and they are blown away. But don’t be upset with them, understand that they are only leaves.
Then there are the branches that hold you up and give you more shade; however, if you step out on them too far, they may break. Funny thing about branches is you won’t know how strong they are until you have grown with them for a while, and only circumstances will determine their real purpose.
Then there are the roots. These are there to hold you up and hold you accountable. That’s why they are called roots. They don’t want to be seen, they are there, period, for the long haul.
So as I begin the count down to Thanksgiving, I thank God for the roots in my life who don’t want to make a splash, just want to see me through. And though a tree may have many more leaves than branches, and many more branches than roots, I am grateful for both leaves and branches, but especially grateful for and blessed to have a few roots in my life who are there consistently, day in and day out, when life is smooth, and when life is going sideways. Roots rock! ~Lady B.
Tune in on Monday, November 17 for more Tea with Lady B.
~Cheers!
