Speak Life

Welcome to Tea with Lady B!
Today’s tea topic is SPEAK LIFE!
The story is told about a student who received an email from his Dean telling him that his graduate scholarship had been canceled. Without even questioning the authenticity of the email, Marcus zoomed into an “out-of-here” mindset. He wasted no time packing up his belongings, saying goodbye to as many of his classmates he could, and calling around for a flight back to his native country. Remember, this happened just a week before the semester ended, and Marcus was just a semester away from donning the cap and gown he had been dreaming about. That close!
But as we fast forward to a week later, now back in his native island trying to pick up the pieces of a broken dream, Marcus finally found a little time to browse over his backed-up emails. At first glance he thought that the second email he was reading was a spam or something like that. It was not. It was a “Dear Marcus” from his Dean sent just one day after learning the bad news—it was an earsplitting apology that the cancellation scholarship notice was actually intended for another Marcus, Marcus Browning. Marcus' heart sunk. He was filled with rage, self-loathing, disgust, regret—all those crushing vibes churning around in his head like a non-stop, cacophony of musical notes.
Marcus’ story is ancient history now, but its lesson is no less relevant. To my point, before he could even digest the bad news, Marcus had settled on failure over faith. And we? When we are confronted with earth-shattering negative situations, we would be wise to resist crawling into a proverbial hole. We want to speak life over our seemingly dead circumstances—we must be daring enough to speak life over our despair. Tell yourself, “I will come through this because if God brought me to it, He will see me through it.” SPEAK LIFE!
